Facilitated Study Group: Clinical Cases This is a study group for clinical social workers who are MSW graduates, but who are fairly new to the profession and interested in building their clinical skills through group discussion with peers and a very experienced clinician. This study group is open to ORVCSWS members only. Participants will be able to present clinical material to the study group to get assistance with specific questions or problems. The group will have one experienced clinical social worker who will convene the group. It will be a closed group and participants will be asked to commit to regular attendance. Because the group process will be an important part of the learning experience, we are asking that group members agree to attend a minimum of six sessions. After that six month commitment, we will ask one month’s notice if a member decides to leave the group. The group will meet once a month, for an hour to an hour and one half, with the meeting schedule to be determined by the convener. The convener will determine the location of the group’s meeting place. Because case material will be discussed, each member will agree to respect the confidentiality of the case content and the group discussion. Members will get permission from their agency supervisors to discuss case material in the group setting, and will abide by any agency policies regarding confidentiality of case material. Each member will be asked to discuss their participation in The ORVCSWS Facilitated Study Group: Clinical Cases with their agency clinical and administrative supervisors. A letter and this explanatory form will be sent to those supervisors to review and to sign. This will indicate that the group member has agency approval to participate in the study group and to present agency cases to the group. The ORVCSWS Facilitated Study Group: Clinical Cases is not a substitute for agency supervision nor can it be used as supervisory hours towards state social work licensure. The study group is conceived as an additional learning experience. FEES: There will be a $15.00 fee per meeting. We are requesting that participants pay for the initial six sessions ($90.00) at the time of the first meeting. It will be up to the convener to decide on the payment process after the initial six month commitment. CEUs: CEUs will be available to group participants. Group members will sign in at each meeting and will complete an evaluation form at the end of the ORVCSWS program year (June 30). CEUs will be awarded at the end of the program year for the meetings attended from July 1 to June 30. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
